Jean François Alessandri a short biography |
||
Jean François Alessandri was born in 1950, in the city of Marseille. He was the first-born son of a Polish mother and a Corsican father. Jean lived the first years of his life in the city.
His father, a well-known photographer, was his first inspiration and mentor. From an early age Jean was eager to accompany his father on photo excursions into the surrounding countryside of the Provence.
His father's influence was crucial. He made him aware of "light" during the different times of the day and seasons, and, most of all, helped him see and appreciate the colours, contrasts and nuances which constantly change, never to be exactly the same.
By the time Jean was 17 years old, he was considered a professional landscape photographer by the regional community of press photographers.
The importance of his work is not simply showcasing the myriad of colours and forms of the Provence, but the combination of image and light which is captured at a particular moment in time.
His work shows us the true PROVENCE and at the same time a PROVENCE with a nostalgic and picturesque flavour. It is through his vision that we can see the endlessly changing effects of " IMAGE ET LUMIERE " while knowing that the landscape itself will slowly alter in the inevitable and ongoing process of change.
